Terms of Service

Last updated October 21, 2026 · Version 2026-10-21

These terms explain the rules for using EduPedian and what you can expect from us. We’ve tried to keep them readable.

1. About these terms

EduPedian is an online learning platform for classes, assignments, tests, messaging and school communication. It is operated by [Company legal name] (“we”, “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and us about using EduPedian.

By creating an account or using EduPedian, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use EduPedian.

If you use EduPedian through a school or district, that school or district may also have its own agreement with us. Where that agreement covers the same topic as these Terms, the school agreement controls for that school’s accounts.

2. Who can use EduPedian, and your account

  • Teachers and other school staff must be adults and may only use EduPedian for legitimate teaching or school purposes.
  • Students 13 and older may create their own accounts. Students under 13 may only use EduPedian through an account created or authorized by their school, which gives consent on parents’ behalf for school use as allowed by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
  • Parents and guardians may create accounts to see information about their own students once the link is verified.

Give accurate information, keep your password private, and use two-step verification where it’s required (it’s required for teacher accounts). You’re responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else has used it.

You may not choose a staff or administrator role for yourself. Those are granted only by EduPedian or by your school.

3. Schools, districts and student records

When a school or district uses EduPedian, we act as a “school official” under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) for the student information the school puts into or creates in EduPedian. The school stays in control of those education records, and we use them only to provide EduPedian to that school.

Teachers who use EduPedian on their own (without a school agreement) are responsible for making sure their use follows their school’s rules, including any rules about getting permission before using online tools with students.

4. Rules for using EduPedian

You agree not to:

  • harass, bully, threaten, or send sexual, hateful or violent content to anyone;
  • share another person’s private information without permission;
  • pretend to be someone else, or access an account, class or record you aren’t allowed to;
  • cheat on assessments, help others cheat, or try to get around assessment settings;
  • upload anything illegal, harmful, or that you don’t have the right to share (including malware);
  • copy, scrape or download EduPedian content or data in bulk, or use EduPedian to build a competing product;
  • test, probe or attack EduPedian’s security, or overload the service (please report security issues to us instead);
  • use EduPedian for advertising, selling, or any purpose unrelated to education.

We may remove content or limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and we may tell the relevant school. Serious safety concerns may be reported to the school or to authorities where the law requires or allows it.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of what you create or upload, such as assignments, answers, messages and files (“your content”).

You give us permission to store, copy, display and process your content only as needed to run EduPedian for you and your school: for example, to show your work to your teacher, to make backups, and to export files you ask for. This permission ends when your content is deleted, except for copies kept in backups for a limited time or that we must keep by law.

Teachers may share their own lessons and questions with co-teachers and their school. Don’t upload materials you don’t have the right to use.

6. Safety features and assessment activity

To help keep students safe, messages are automatically checked against a list of words and may be flagged for review by trained EduPedian staff. A flag is a signal for a person to look at, not a finding that anyone did something wrong. Messages can also be reported by the people in the conversation.

During tests and some assignments, EduPedian may record activity such as when answers are saved and whether the page was left, under the settings the teacher chooses. Teachers can review this. It is never treated as proof of anything on its own.

7. AI features

Some plans let teachers use AI to draft questions, lessons or feedback. AI output can be wrong, biased or incomplete. Teachers must review anything generated before using it with students. We do not use student content to train AI models.

8. Paid plans, billing and ads

Students and families never pay to access schoolwork. Some teacher and school features require a paid plan.

  • Paid plans renew automatically each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in Settings; you keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
  • Payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We don’t see or store your full card number.
  • Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable, but contact us if something went wrong and we’ll review it.
  • We’ll give you notice before a price change affects your plan, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

The free teacher plan may show an advertisement to the teacher before certain AI actions. Ads are never shown to students and are never targeted using student information.

9. Other services

EduPedian works with other services, such as Google sign-in, YouTube videos in lessons, and our hosting, email and payment providers. Your use of those services may also be covered by their own terms. We aren’t responsible for services we don’t control.

10. Closing your account

You can ask to close your account in Settings. Accounts managed by a school are closed through the school. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, that a school asks us to close, or that have been inactive for a long time, and we will try to give notice when it’s reasonable to do so.

After an account is closed, we delete or de-identify its information as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers

We work hard to keep EduPedian available, accurate and secure, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that EduPedian will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that grades, calculations or AI suggestions will always be correct. Teachers remain responsible for the grades they give.

12. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, [Company legal name] will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim about EduPedian is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100.

Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

13. Responsibility for misuse

If you are an adult and your misuse of EduPedian or breach of these Terms leads to a claim against [Company legal name], you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim. This section doesn’t apply to students.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [State], USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, please contact us at [contact email, e.g. support@edupedian.com] so we can try to resolve it informally. Any dispute that isn’t resolved will be handled in the state or federal courts located in [County, State], and you and we agree to those courts’ jurisdiction. Either side may bring a qualifying claim in small-claims court instead.

If a school agreement says something different about governing law or disputes, the school agreement controls for that school.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in EduPedian before it takes effect and ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in. If you don’t agree, you can stop using EduPedian and close your account.

If any part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part right away doesn’t mean we give up the right to enforce it later.
